What happens when the world’s biggest sporting event meets the creative minds of Southern California quilters? Threads of the Games!
This grassroots collaboration brings together quilt guilds and artists from across Southern California to celebrate the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games - re-told in fabric, thread, and a whole lot of imagination.
Threads of the Games will feature a juried exhibition of Olympic- and Paralympic-inspired quilts displayed at multiple venues throughout Los Angeles and Long Beach during the 2028 Summer Games.
In partnership with Road to California, the project will take advantage of Road2CA’s trusted entry, collection, and logistics infrastructure in Upland. That means our Southern California quilting celebration can travel beyond our backyard - and then come home just in time to welcome the world.
Orange County Quilters Guild is very proud to be a charter member of this exciting effort! We’re still in the early stages, but there is plenty of stitching, scheming, and dreaming ahead. So keep your eyes and ears open for more information about how YOU can be part of Threads of the Games.
Because when the world comes to Southern California in 2028, we plan to have quilts ready to greet it!
